In response to the increasing loss prevention challenges in the grocery retail sector, the German discount food retailer Netto Marken-Discount has developed an innovative computer vision solution in partnership with Trigo Vision.

The increasing use of self-checkout systems has boosted efficiency but brought new challenges in loss prevention. By intelligently using the existing CCTV infrastructure, the system detects unpaid items, scan manipulations, and suspicious patterns in real time and informs employees in a targeted manner.

This enables Netto to intervene early and appropriately, use resources efficiently, and avoid blanket security measures. This approach enables a shift from reactive control to proactive prevention, and at the same time creates the basis for new digital services. All while ensuring a smooth, customer-friendly shopping experience.
